Albert Moulton Foweraker
Albert Moulton Foweraker, painter – Wikipedia – appeared to have a fascination with the early evening light – beloved of photographers – and moonlight which he depicted in many of his paintings.
Predominantly known as a watercolourist, Foweraker used pastels to great effect too. Linked with the St Ives group of artists, Foweraker has also been described as a British Impressionist
Born on 7th July, 1873 at Exeter, he became a professional artist in 1898 and exhibited extensively thereafter, becoming a member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 1902.
He moved to Lelant, Cornwall in 1902. Devon, Cornwall and later, Dorset became the subject of a large body of Foweraker’s work. He also traveled extensively in France, Spain and North Africa, where he painted some of his most sought-after pictures. He eventually settled in Swanage, Dorset, where he died in 1942.
